Initial Comments

  1. Reasons for bookmarking

    1. The authors’ reputations precede them.
    2. Chern-Weil theory is something I understand a little but would like to understand a little bit more.
    3. The idea of “all the possible invariants” felt reminiscent of cohomology operations.
  2. Initial Read Through

    1. Introduction is very general, contains a useful discussion on why “on beyond manifolds” is important.
    2. Still not convinced by the “everything is better with sheaves” line. At times, it feels like the answer is simply rephrasing the question (this is a general comment, not specific to this paper).
  3. Skim Read Point

Switched to “skim reading” around about Section 4.
