Joyal's CatLab Čech, Eduard

Eduard ?ech (1893-1960) was a Czech mathematician who made important contributions to general and algebraic topology.

He is famous for having introduced the Stone-∞ech compactification? of regular topological space. He also introduced ?ech homology? and the notion of inverse limit. He introduced in 1932 the higher homotopy groups of a space, independantly of Hurewicz.
