Ioan Mackenzie James (1928- ) is an English mathematician working in topology. He studied under the supervision of J.H.C. Whitehead and received his Phd from Oxford in 1953. He was president of the London Mathematical Society from 1984 to 1986. He is famous for having introduced the James construction? in algebraic topology.
