Joyal's CatLab Weil, André

André Weil was a French mathematician (6 May 1906 - 6 August 1998). Her sister Simone Weil was a famous philosopher and mystic.

He was a founding member of Bourbaki. He is famous for his work in algebraic geometry and number theory. He formulated the Weil conjectures? which were solved later by Deligne after fundamental contributions by Grothendieck.
