International Mathematical Union (abbreviation: IMU) is the principal international organization of mathematicians; it includes many national mathematical societies as collective members. IMU organizes the International Congress of Mathematicians (ICM) every four years and awards the Fields Medal (wikipedia, F.M. at IMU).
