Idea

Green mathematics is mathematics developed in response to environmental issues and questions in ecology and biology. In the 21st century, it may increasingly be these areas rather than fields such as elementary particle physics that trigger the development of deep new mathematics. In particular, developing mathematics that is adequate for systems ecology and systems biology is a major challenge.
