Joyal's CatLab Schwartz, Laurent

Laurent Schwartz (1915- 2002) was a French mathematician working in analysis. He received the Fields Medal in 1950 for his work on the theory of distributions.

He supervised Bernard Malgrange, Jacques-Louis Lions, François Bruhat. With Jean Dieudonné, he supervised Alexander Grothendieck. He was a member of Bourbaki.
