David Kazhdan (or Každan) is an Israeli mathematician educated in Moscow, professor at Hebrew University (homepage kazhdan) emeritus of Harvard University (homepage); while he is a rennesaince mathematician with wide knowledge from model theory to mathematical physics, he has made especially deep contributions to representation theory. Kazhdan, Lusztig and Deodhar discovered the famous Kazhdan-Lusztig theory.
Introducing Kazhdan's property (T):
Physics is very interesting: There are many, many interesting theorems. Unfortunately, there are no definitions.
