Idea

Given a group GG, a symplectic representation of GG is a representation of GG on a symplectic vector space, that is a FF-vector space (where FF is a field) with a symplectic form (a nondegenerate skew-symmetric bilinear form) ω\omega, preserving that form: ω(g.x,g.y)=ω(x,y)\omega(g.x,g.y) = \omega(x,y) for all x,yGx,y\in G.
