  It is a famous hypothesis that the higher gauge fields of 10D type II super-gravity are to be globally defined (IR-completed) as cocycles in twisted differential K-theory. However, this misses NS1-charge quantization, violates S-duality and does not lift to 11D. I will discuss a solution to all these issues, after revisiting the foundations of IR-completing higher gauge fields by duality-symmetric flux quantization.
