In perturbative quantum field theory, dimensional regularization is a method for renormalization. Here Feynman amplitudes are expressed via Schwinger parameters in worldline formalism making the resulting expression a function of spacetime dimension which may formally be set to any real number. Then one regularizes via taking the limit .
