Topological Physics – Phenomena in physics controlled by the topology (often: the homotopy theory) of the physical system.

In solid state physics a material is said to have a gapped Hamiltonian if in the thermodynamic limit of infinite volume its Hamiltonian has a spectral gap over the ground state.
