The slope of a line in the Cartesian plane 2\mathbb{R}^2 given, in the canonical coordinates (x,y: 2)(x,y \;\colon\; \mathbb{R}^2 \to \mathbb{R}) by the equation

y=y 0+sx y = y_0 + s \cdot x

is the factor ss.
