In higher category theory
A monoidal preorder is a monoid with a preorder such that the binary operation preserves the preorder.
This is the same as a strict monoidal category whose underlying category is thin.
The set of natural numbers becomes a (symmetric) monoidal preorder with respect to addition and the usual ordering.
