and gauge enhancement

Abstract In the article BMSS18, we apply two universal constructions in super rational homotopy theory to provide a solution to the problem of gauge enhancement of super M-branes. We prove that the topological charge structure of fundamental super M-branes produces the twisted K-theory charge of Type IIA D-branes under double dimensional reduction when all torsion effects are ignored. Our result is based upon Sati’s conjecture (Sa13) that the topological M-brane charge is classified by degree-4 cohomotopy, and our result in turn contributes to a growing body of evidence for this conjecture (see FSS13, FSS15b, FSS16a, FSS16b, HS17, HSS18).
